In 2017 experts of the German magazine Auto Bild have tested Nokian Z Line summer tire at size 245/40 R18 and compared it with eight similar budget, mid-range and premium summer tires.

Test results

9000 2 According to the results of the test, Nokian zLine took sixth place in the overall standings and received an expert rating of “good”.

The tire, although it did not take a leading position in any of the disciplines, in general, it showed a fairly balanced behavior on any of the road surfaces with a minimum lag behind the leaders. The only weak points of the tire are relatively low hydroplaning resistance and high noise levels.

Tire responds slightly late to steering and tends to oversteer. Although in general it brakes well on dry and wet pavement, and also on the latter it provides high lateral stability. Comfort level is average.

• The Nokian zLine high-performance tire delivers superior acoustic comfort even when driving at high speeds on uneven surfaces. Silent Groov recesses are semi-circular and serve to break off the vortex flows that provoke rumble and whistle.
• Polished drain channels effectively remove dirt and water from the contact patch. In combination with transverse grooves in the shoulder areas, made using Swoop Grooves technology, the throughput of the drainage system has been increased. The tire has become resistant to aquaplaning, keeps a stable course, and maintains control accuracy.
• Reduced rolling resistance and increased wear resistance, which reduced fuel consumption and extended tire life.
