Refrigerator Colors

Standard refrigerator colors include white, black and stainless steel, with some brands offering black stainless steel or customizable color shades. When choosing which color works best with your space, consider the color of your kitchen cabinets, flooring and other large appliances. Appliance colors don’t have to match to create a pleasant aesthetic, but be careful if you plan to mix and match appliance brands, as not all brands offer classic colors in the exact same hue.

A white refrigerator can help brighten up your kitchen and complement nearly any color palette, while black refrigerators like these ones from Maytag brand can add a touch of sophistication and contrast well with white cabinets. Stainless steel is a popular, neutral option that blends well with both contemporary and traditional aesthetics.

Refrigerator Finishes

Finishes refer to the type of material that forms the outer shell of the refrigerator. Today’s kitchen appliances come in a selection of finishes with both glossy and matte textures. Stainless steel refrigerators are durably designed and often available in traditional or black stainless finishes. Some brands offer a matte black stainless steel finish with a brushed metal look for added warmth. Options, like stainless steel refrigerators from Maytag brand, feature a shiny yet fingerprint resistant finish that helps prevent smudges and gives your kitchen a high-end look and feel.

American refrigerators are distinguished by their rather big dimensions. Their models are also called side-by-side or side-by-side. Some of them have freezers on the side. Then such devices have a wider shape. They all look very stylish and impressive. American refrigerators are suitable for large families due to their considerable capacity.

Varieties of refrigerators from the USA

The most famous refrigerators from America are Amana, Viking, General Electric, Maytag and others. These units are reliable and multifunctional. Such models are good for country houses. They are good for storing a lot of products that are purchased for a week or more.

American refrigerators have three types of layout. Appliances with a freezer at the top are top mount, if the freezer is at the bottom it is a bottom mount arrangement. Refrigerators with a bottom freezer are the most popular, by the way. After all, with such a solution, the device is easiest to use: there will be no need to bend down to the lower shelves. Refrigerators with a side-by-side layout have vertically divided chambers and enlarged compartments.

American side-by-side refrigeration units include door closers, zero freshness chambers, a no frost system, minibars, automatic ice supply, ice makers and other amenities. For example, new models from Amana are equipped with a medicine compartment that can be locked. Maytag refrigerators have a rotating lift shelf with adjustable height.

Considerations for using refrigeration units

Despite the legendary endurance of the described household appliances for groceries, sometimes you still have to repair American-made refrigerators. It will cost a lot, like the units themselves. Therefore, in order to postpone this procedure for as long as possible, it is recommended to carefully and properly care for the refrigeration giant helpers from the USA. The main condition for the maintenance of such refrigerators is that they should always stand tightly against the wall. To ensure that the compressor’s life is not exhausted, the devices must not be placed on heated floors. It is also worth considering that not every company can repair American refrigerators.

According to the documents, American refrigerators can last up to 15 years. Manufacturers here even took into account the fact that their well-thought-out design solutions for refrigeration systems will be intensively exploited. Their doors and enclosures are made from durable steel built-in fittings. The outer panels of refrigerators are covered with several layers of enamel. The top durable plastic layer is embossed. The doors of the products are able to withstand up to 60 kg of cargo. If they forget to close them, then the closers will do it for the owner. That’s why refrigerators from the states are so reliable.

Repair of American refrigerators from Viking, Maytag, Amana and General Electric is more of a tuning when worn decorative parts, attachments, handles and panels are replaced. The technical stuffing of devices is rarely repaired, as it is very reliably made and rarely breaks. But even if a household appliance fails during its service life, then there will be nothing to worry about, because it will be repaired anyway. The main thing is to choose a trusted certified company with experienced craftsmen who repairs American-made refrigerators.

Advantages of American Refrigerators

The capacity of household appliances for long-term preservation of products is quite extensive. Shelves made of tempered unbreakable glass with sides and enamelled metal frames are able to withstand enormous loads. They can be pulled out and adjusted in height.

General Electric, Amana and Maytag models are equipped with a freezer compartment with hanging baskets. The Maytag zig zag refrigerator with a total volume of 730 liters has tilting baskets, bottle holders, adjustable glass and wire shelves in the doors. The chambers are separated from each other in a zigzag fashion. This decision turned out to be very comfortable and successful. The freezer here contains large baskets for meat, as well as a pizza compartment, while the refrigeration compartment contains boxes with adjustable humidity and a shelf in the form of an elevator. The ice maker in this refrigerator has an electronic key for individual access and touch control.

For those who like to go on vacation often, American refrigerators have a special feature called Vacation. When it is turned on, the chamber will operate in a less expensive mode until the refrigerator is opened again. As soon as this is done, the device will again begin to function to its fullest.

Additional options when purchasing products

American refrigerators can be additionally decorated according to individual taste. Additional finishing panels are attached to these built-in models. Refrigeration products lined in this way look luxurious and unique. For panels, materials such as fur, leather, aluminum, wood, tinted glass and colored mirrors are used. Decorated refrigerators from the states are not only amazing, but also expensive, because such exclusive work costs a lot of money.

Before purchasing an American refrigerator, you can choose to order its dimensions, panels, as well as the width of its compartments and shelves, the location and materials of the doors and the way they open and close.

How to transport a refrigerator: instructions and answers to the main questions – LG MAGAZINE Russia magazine

such an aggregate. In this regard, many are wondering how to transport a refrigerator.

All manufacturers of sophisticated household appliances note that the refrigerator must be transported only in an upright position. In practice, such transportation of the refrigerator is not always possible, especially if you need to transport a model with a height of more than 2 meters. Some vehicles cannot provide such conditions. At the same time, it is necessary to transport the refrigerator in compliance with all the rules – an incorrect position of the unit during transportation can potentially cause damage to the refrigeration equipment, after which the device will stop working. In order not to damage expensive household appliances, you must first read the transportation instructions.

Refrigerators from different manufacturers work on a similar principle: their cooling system is a closed circuit, which is represented by a large number of tubes and nozzles. If the refrigeration equipment is not transported carefully, damage to the refrigeration system can occur (for example, the compressor is detached or displaced in relation to the hangers), which leads to serious damage to the refrigerator. The appliance will stop cooling, leading to costly repairs. The easiest way to get a malfunction in the refrigerator cooling system is during transportation, so transportation must be approached responsibly.

The cooling system of the refrigeration unit is filled with a refrigerant, freon gas, which constantly circulates through pipes and tubes, cyclically changing its state of aggregation from liquid to gaseous and vice versa. Each of the cooling cycles follows an identical pattern:

  • Freon leaves the evaporator and is fed into the refrigerator compressor.
  • The refrigerant in gaseous form is sent by the compressor to the condenser under high pressure.
  • During condensation, freon passes into a liquid state of aggregation and cools, while heat is transferred to the surrounding air.
  • Liquid freon, passing through the drying filter, goes towards the evaporator and enters it through a narrowed capillary tube.
  • The pressure on the Freon is reduced, causing the gas to boil.
  • Passing into a gaseous state of aggregation, freon absorbs heat from the surrounding space inside the freezer and refrigerator compartment and evenly lowers the temperature inside them.

After this cycle is completed, freon vapor is pumped out again and the process is repeated. The main functional role in this process is assigned to the operation of the compressor. This node provides the following processes:

  • Pumps freon.
  • Maintains desired system pressures.
  • Guarantees uninterrupted heat transfer from inside to outside.

To prevent damage to the cooling circuit of the refrigerator, it is strictly forbidden to transport the device without prior packaging. When the unit is new, the manufacturer should worry about its safety and reliable packaging even before household appliances arrive at the warehouse. If it is necessary to transport the refrigerator to another apartment, it is necessary to prevent possible damage to the device during transportation. It is necessary to prepare the refrigerator for transportation one day in advance, carefully pack and securely fix the device inside the car body.

The preparation for moving the refrigeration unit should be carried out according to the following instructions:

  • The freezer and refrigerator compartment must be freed from food products present in them.
  • To transport the unit, unplug it from the socket, let it stand until it is completely defrosted.
  • Gently wipe the external and internal surfaces of the refrigeration equipment with a neutral cleaning agent, the best option is a soapy solution at room temperature (+16 . .. +25 ̊С).
  • Remove all niches, shelves, drawers and other easily removable elements from the refrigerator compartment, pack separately from the unit in soft cloth or heavy paper.
  • Wet clean the inside of the refrigerator, the appliance must be dry before transport, so leave the doors open for a while.

If you have kept the original packaging of the refrigerator, there should be no problems with its transportation. In such a package, most often, everything is thought out for transporting the unit over long distances. Very often, users do not keep the original packaging from the refrigerator, and shaped foam elements for packaging equipment are thrown away with the box. In this case, in order to transport the refrigerator to another apartment, it is necessary to properly pack the unit as follows:

  • Wrap the body of the refrigerator in thick paper.
  • After paper, wrap the unit with hard cardboard.
  • Once the paper and cardboard are secured with tape, wrap the refrigerator in additional bubble wrap.

When moving, be sure to secure the refrigerator compressor with transport bolts or rope, otherwise, if the device in the car body is strongly shaken, the compressor may move. Carefully fasten the power cable to the back of the device with adhesive tape to the compressor. Fix the unit doors with tie-down straps, string or masking tape so that they do not accidentally swing open due to shaking and come off. In non-standard models of devices that do not pass through the doorway, the refrigerator doors are removed.

There are three positions in which the refrigerator can be transported in the car:

  • Upright.
  • Inclined.
  • Lying horizontally on the side.

The safest way to transport the refrigerator is in a vertical position, while the sides of the truck should be flush with the height of the device. But, if this is not possible, or the refrigerator is transported in a trailer, it must be firmly fixed in the cargo body of the car.

Transporting the appliance in an upright position is the right decision, as this position guarantees the safety of the structural elements of the refrigeration equipment and their further correct functioning. The algorithm for transporting a refrigerator in a vertical position is as follows:

  • Prepare the refrigerator for transport one day in advance.
  • Carefully lower the instrument towards the truck.
  • To transport the unit, place it in the box in a vertical position.
  • Fasten the body of the equipment in the body of the car with special belts, while providing an additional stop that will not allow the device to “leave” in case of braking or turning.
  • Fasten the refrigerator doors and check that they are secure.

When lifting equipment to the apartment on the upper floors, be sure to ensure that the compressor is located on the back wall of the refrigerator case. With the compressor in the forward position, the valve that holds the oil in will open and oil will flow into the refrigerant piping. The presence of oil along with the refrigerant in the circuit adversely affects the performance of the unit and the degree of cooling in the chambers.

Under the body of the refrigerator during installation in the apartment, you need to put a shock-absorbing material at hand, either foam, or several layers of thick cardboard or thick fabric are suitable for this.

If you plan to transport the refrigerator in a car, do not attempt to position the refrigerator vertically on the roof or in the trunk during transport. It is better to fix the refrigerator in a horizontal position on the reclined rear seats.

When transporting a refrigerator, placing it in a horizontal position on its side is not the most reliable option, since manufacturers indicate in the instructions for household appliances that this method of positioning the appliance is undesirable. Transportation of the refrigerator in a lying position is possible, but with great care and over short distances. It should be taken into account that the horizontal position of the refrigerator, lying on its side, during its transportation from place to place, may become a reason for the cancellation of the manufacturer’s warranty.

When transporting the refrigerator in the lying position, a number of rules must be observed:

  • The refrigerator must lie on its side. If the unit is placed on the back wall or with the doors down during transport, there is a high risk of damage to the compressor, motor and the thermal insulation of the refrigeration cabinet. Such damage leads to serious damage to the refrigerator. The appliance may stop working, resulting in costly repairs.
  • The machine must be laid down so that the pipes and motor outlets point upwards. When the compressor tubes come out in different directions, the device can lie both on the right side and on the left side. If the refrigerator lies upside down, there is a risk of clogging the system with engine oil.
  • The compressor must be securely fastened to the refrigerator body with shipping bolts.
  • The wire must be fixed in the motor area, but it all depends on where the contacts are connected.

When it is not possible to transport the refrigerator in a vertical position, you can put it in the car body at an angle, while the slope should not be more than 40 degrees. Most often, it is decided to transport the device at an angle if the height of the unit is more than 175 centimeters. To transport the refrigerator at an angle, you should pay attention to the reliable fixation of the device: the device must be surrounded by materials that are well protected from vibration. When transporting a refrigerator, when laying a route, you need to take into account the quality of the roadway, and carry the cargo with care: unnecessary shaking is not allowed, as the device may stop working, which will entail expensive repairs.

There are also problems after transporting the refrigerator. The most common is the failure of the compressor, the presence of minor faults, extraneous noise and vibration. To avoid most of the problems after transportation, first of all, you should pay attention to the fact that the refrigerator cannot be turned on immediately. Depending on the position during transport and the season, you will need:

  • After horizontal transport, 8 hours of downtime should be allowed in summer and 16 hours in winter.
  • If the device was transported at an angle: 6 hours in summer and 10 hours in winter.
  • After vertical transport: 4 hours in summer and 6 hours in winter.

This idle time will allow the spilled oil in the tube to sink back to the bottom of the compressor and release the bound freon. At low temperatures in the cold season, such a measure will also warm up the device and lubricant. If, after additional downtime, the refrigerator does not work, you need to look for the causes of malfunctions. A typical transport problem is a depressurization of the cooling circuit and a refrigerant leak, which can be identified by a number of signs:

  • Reduced performance during normal motor operation.
  • There is light in the chamber, but the compressor does not start.
  • High temperature indication is triggered.
  • The motor starts its operation for a short period and switches off.

These signs indicate the need to find a leak and charge Freon and replace the filter-drier.
