The M2 chip brings more speed to everything you do — whether you’re editing a video for class, collaborating on a business plan, or streaming a show while you shop online. And with all-day battery life, you can leave the power adapter at home.

Compared to a PC laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor, MacBook Air delivers up to 2x faster performance,4 up to 50 percent faster web browsing,5 and up to 50 percent longer battery life.6

More about M2 chip and Performance

Take flight.

Apple silicon has transformed the Mac lineup with its blazing performance and power efficiency. The breakthrough system on a chip (SoC) architecture combines the CPU, GPU, memory, and more on a single chip so everything runs much faster — while requiring much less power.

The M2 chip is built using an enhanced second-generation 5‑nanometer technology. It features over 20 billion transistors — 25 percent more than M1. And its 16-core Neural Engine is capable of executing up to 15.8 trillion operations per second to accelerate machine learning tasks. Up to 24GB of high-performance unified memory gives the CPU and GPU shared access to a larger memory pool. And the 100GB/s memory bandwidth — 50 percent more than M1 — makes multitasking and running multiple apps superfluid.

M2 chip

CPU

Let’s do this.

The 8‑core CPU on M2 is up to 18 percent faster than M1.7 So you can zip through everyday tasks like creating documents and presentations, or take on more demanding workloads like developing in Xcode or mixing tracks in Logic Pro with Spatial Audio.

GPU

Make it pretty. Fast.

With up to a 10‑core GPU, M2 delivers a big boost in graphics performance — up to 35 percent faster than M17 — for everything from color correcting photos to editing 4K and 8K video.

Apple MacBook Air 15 (M2, 2023) review: design, features, differences

The updated MacBook Air 15 is the device that many have been waiting for. Relatively cheap, but still a big Mac with a good display, optimal performance, and a new design. Here, Apple unequivocally assembled a full house, at least it seemed so at the presentation.

But is the new MacBook Air 15 really that good? What did Western media and bloggers write about him in their reviews? Let’s figure it out.

We haven’t been able to get our hands on the new product yet, but that doesn’t stop us from looking at its specs, as well as reviews from other users, to get a more or less accurate picture of whether the MacBook Air 15 is worth the money.

Specifications MacBook Air 15 (2023)

Specifications MacBook Air 15 (2023)

Chip Apple M2 (8-core CPU and 10-core GPU)
Memory 8GB, 16GB, or 24GB

Microphones 6 studio microphones
Battery up to 18 hours
Dimensions and weight 1. 15 x 34.04 x 23.76 cm, 1.51 grams Price From $1.299

According to the specifications, the new MacBook Air 15 (2023) is a powerful and versatile laptop that is ideal for both creative work and office use. It’s thin, light and portable, so it’s easy to take it with you wherever you go.

The M2 chip delivers performance that goes beyond your limits, with a battery life of up to 18 hours to forget about charging.

Design MacBook Air 15 (2023)

We’ve never had a big screen MacBook Air. Because Apple was constantly given a choice: if you want it cheaper, sacrifice screen size, performance, display quality, coolers; if you do not agree with this, pay more for the Pro versions.

But being in the state that is now in the world, everything must change. What are we talking about? During the pandemic, sales of MacBooks have skyrocketed, as have laptops in general and tablets. After all, everyone started working remotely.

But when the pandemic subsided, some people returned to the offices and there is no point in buying or updating their devices, especially considering that such a “machine” as the MacBook Air M1 (which was noted as the best-selling model), can work for another 2-3 years without problems with updating.

Mac sales are in a slump right now, so the company gave us a large display during this period in order to increase profits and boost performance. In fact, the MacBook Air 15 (2023) was ready for release even before the regular 13-inch MacBook Air M2 was released, according to Western media.

Regarding the design of the device, we can say the following: it is exactly the same as its predecessor. Just bigger, but with almost no weight gain to keep the Air’s inherent compactness and portability.

It even, like its predecessor, is available in four colors: Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray and Classic Grey.

Instead of bordering the edges of the keyboard, the speakers are hidden away. This leaves a lot of room around the keyboard, and Apple has included a really massive trackpad that is just as good as the rest of the models.

Touch ID is located on the keyboard, and all connectors (MagSafe and two Thunderbolt ports) are on the left side. The headphone jack is located on the right side. However, there are no additional ports. On the 15-inch version, they could add at least one more Thunderbolt.

New Display

The MacBook Air 15 (2023) display has two sides of the coin: on the one hand, you’re glad that it’s gotten bigger, and on the other, you’re a little outraged because it’s not getting any better. It’s the same display as on the first generation Air with the M1, just with a new bezel with a notch and a bit more.

It got a refresh rate of 60Hz, which seems to be enough for work, but the pros will want more and better – so they will choose a 14-inch MacBook Pro or a 16-inch version.

That being said, if the display performance of the same Air with the M1 was enough for you, the updated version of the MacBook Air 15 (2023) will be a breath of fresh air. I know from myself that if you often have to work with photos, infographics, a larger display is a gift. Even if it is only 500nits and 60Hz, in any case, if you need something more powerful, you can connect an external monitor.

Performance

Perhaps the biggest question the new, larger MacBook Air raises is whether a larger laptop delivers more performance.

On the one hand, it has the same hardware we saw in the 13-inch MacBook Air – M2 chip, 10-core GPU and 16GB of memory – so you would expect performance to be extremely similar. On the other hand, the passive air cooling used in the MacBook Air could benefit from a larger chassis.

Colleagues from pcmag compared the performance of the MacBook Air 15 (2023) with devices such as Dell XPS 15 (9530) (2023) and Microsoft Surface Laptop 5. After all, these companies have long been “their own” in the market for 15-inch laptops and they had more time to prepare for such competition.

If you are interested in delving into the topic of performance, you can find more tests in their review.

Battery and run time

This is where Apple really excels because I don’t know of any other Windows laptop with a 15″ display that can last up to 18 hours, except that the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 is closest to this mark. Even if we take the same Dell XPS 15 (9530) (2023) – only 14 hours in ideal conditions.

The benefits of the Apple Silicon chip are obvious, but not yet for gamers. Although, with the release of macOS Sonoma and the game mode, we can talk about this in more detail. In the meantime, the MacBook Air 15 (2023) is a notable leader in terms of battery life, as well as the convenience of charging via MagSafe 3.

MacBook Air 15 (2023) speakers – admiration and purity 2023). I’m not surprised, because it has the same 6-speaker system as the MacBook Pro 14. In our test, they really did their best, with clear, spacious sound that outperforms the competition.

But speaking of actual user experience. How often do you use Mac speakers? Watch YouTube or some series, and then (most likely) you have a separate monitor for this in the bedroom or living room. At work, most people use AirPods to keep their co-workers out of the way, and Mac speakers only turn on 40% of the time (and that’s me at a stretch). But even in these moments, when buying a MacBook Air 15 (2023), you will have excellent speakers!

Pricing and Availability

Price-wise, it’s nice to see Apple lowering the price tag on the base MacBook Air M1 models. Now you can get them a little cheaper, even with our rate. And the novelty can be bought from $1.299 in the US (excluding duties and shipping). But, if you decide to take it, we advise you to immediately take a closer look at the 512GB version, which will cost $1,499.

The screen itself looks even better live. It supports Pro Motion technology and refresh rates up to 120 Hz, and was created using the experience first demonstrated in the Pro Display XDR professional monitor. To maximize display space, Apple engineers placed the 1080p webcam in a small cutout.

What’s new?

The main improvement in the early 2023 MacBook Pro is undoubtedly the more modern M2 Pro and M2 Max processors with more powerful integrated graphics. In addition to the increased performance, the battery life has also increased significantly. All laptops also received an updated HDMI port with 8K support, and another improvement was support for high-speed Wi-Fi 6e, the benefits of which are especially felt when transferring files wirelessly between Apple gadgets.

M2 Pro Processor Features

Apple’s 5nm M2 Pro processor outperforms the M1 Pro configurations that are close in core count by about 20%, with even greater differences in some scenarios. Separate Neural Engine cores are responsible for tasks related to machine learning, and a special hardware encryption module speeds up File Vault. Plus, Apple’s own processor speeds things up like waking up from sleep, a difference that’s especially noticeable when compared to an Intel-based MacBook.

Impressive graphics

Significantly improved integrated graphics are one of the key benefits of the early 2023 MacBook Pro. It is comparable to powerful discrete graphics cards and outperforms any embedded solution. The increase in graphics performance, in comparison with models that use the M1 Pro of a similar configuration, reaches 30%. Moreover, in addition to work tasks, MacBook Pro will allow you to distract yourself and play modern games optimized for Mac, enjoying high-quality graphics.

Connecting external monitors

The built-in graphics of the 14″ MacBook Pro with M2 Pro processor allows you to connect high resolution displays: up to 8K via HDMI and up to 6K via Thunderbolt, while you can connect two monitors at once (6K + 6K via Thunderbolt) or 6K +4K over Thunderbolt + HDMI) and use them with the built-in display. When using 4K displays, the maximum refresh rate for Thunderbolt monitors is 144Hz, and for HDMI an incredible 240Hz (the refresh rate also depends on the monitor used or TV)

Great sound anywhere

The 14″ MacBook Pro supports high-impedance headphones without the need for an external audio card, making sound virtually anywhere and enjoying the benefits of Hi-Res music. Dolby Atmos support allows you to comfortably watch videos without additional acoustics, and three noise-canceling microphones provide high-quality sound transmission during video chats.0005

Everything for comfortable work

Powerful active cooling system eliminates CPU throttling even under prolonged high load. With everyday tasks, MacBook Pro is completely silent, and a well-thought-out air intake system allows you to comfortably use the laptop even placing it on your lap. Ergonomic backlit scissor keyboard and huge trackpad with Force Touch support allow you to work comfortably without additional accessories.

Security without discomfort

MacBook Pro’s fast Touch ID scanner eliminates the need to enter passwords for all accounts every time. It’s especially handy when paired with iCloud Keychain, while hardware-based encryption and the ability to remotely find and erase lost devices take the worry out of worrying about important data. In addition, important information can be stored in iCloud with the ability to quickly open the desired file on any of your Macs, iPhones and iPads, and with Handoff you can continue working with the same documents from different devices, and right where you left off. .
