The HP Memorial Day Sale Is Still Live: Fabulous Deals on Gaming Laptops and Gaming PCs

Memorial Day has passed, but the 2023 HP Memorial Day Sale runs until June 3 with some great deals on gaming computers. HP has gaming laptops and PCs that cater to different budgets. On the laptop side, you can go all out with the premium HP OMEN 16 or 17 lineup, which can be equipped with up to Intel Core i9 Raptor Lake CPUs and RTX 40 series GPUs. If you’re pinching pennies, the HP Victus lineup still offers solid gaming specs for a much lower price point. The desktop side of things is even more varied. HP’s top of the line OMEN 45L is a full-sized tower chassis that can house several 120mm fans and a massive 360mm all-in-one liquid cooling solution to cool the latest and greatest hardware. The OMEN 40L, the OMEN 25L, and the Victus offer solid performance at a lower price.

Compared to Dell or Lenovo, HP usually has the best price on comparable configs. In fact, there are some Memorial Day deals here that are so inexpensive that the other vendors can’t hope to match them. Check out the full list below.

HP OMEN 45L Intel Raptor Lake RTX 4090 PC for $2699.99

HP OMEN 45L Liquid Cooled Intel Core i9-13900K RTX 4090 PC with 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 1TB HDD

The 2022 OMEN 45L is HP’s flagship gaming PC. This is HP’s roomiest chassis with plenty of cooling in the form of three 120mm fans for system airflow and a beefy 360mm all-in-one liquid cooling loop that cools the CPU. This AIO cooling is a serious upgrade from previous HP OMEN gaming PCs and rivals enthusiast DIY systems. This PC is also equipped with a massive 1200W 80PLUS Gold power supply and current-gen components like an Intel Z790 motherboard, Kingston FURY DDR5 RGB memory modules, and a WD Black SSD.

The 13th gen Intel Core i9-13900K boasts a turbo-boosted clock speed of 5. 8GHz with 24 cores and 32 threads. This is one of the most powerful CPU you can get right now, it’s only competition being the far more expensive AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D. The RTX 4090 is far and away the most powerful video card available, leaving competitors like AMD’s latest Radeon RX 7900 XTX in the dust. It’s also ridiculously more powerful than any of the RTX 30 series cards: it’s up to 90% faster than the 3080 Ti. The 4090 is the one and only solution to ray-traced 4K gaming at consistent 60+fps.

HP OMEN 16″ Intel Core i7-13700HX RTX 4060 Gaming Laptop with 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD

You’d be hard pressed to find another RTX 4060 gaming laptop for under $1200. This laptop features a 13th gen Intel Core i7 Raptor Lake CPU and the latest GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. Performance-wise, the RTX 4060 mobile GPU sits right in between the RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti. It offers plenty of power to run pretty much any game comfortably on the native 1080p display. RTX 40 series cards also support DLSS 3.0, which is essentially DLSS 2.0 plus frame generation. For games that support it this is a big FPS increase over DLSS 2.0

You will need to follow the directions below to select the appropriate upgrades and get the specs and price listed in this deal. This laptop has been upgraded with a far more powerful GeForce RTX 4080 GPU. The RTX 4080 mobile GPU performs about 20%-35% faster than the RTX 3080 Ti mobile. Compared to desktop variants, the mobile RTX 4080 approaches a performance level similar to the desktop RTX 3070 Ti. It’s definitely more than enough power to run most games on the 1440p display at maximum settings.

Must select the following: i9 + RTX 4090

You will need to follow the directions below to select the appropriate upgrades and get the specs and price listed in this deal. This is an absolutely monster of a gaming laptop, and if you shop around, you’ll see that almost every other RTX 4090 gaming laptop cost well over $3000 (and most cost over $3500). Let’s just say the RTX 4090 makes hardcore gaming on a laptop possible. The RTX 4090 is the most powerful mobile GPU ever, and by a huge margin. The HP OMEN 17 supplies up to 175W to the GPU. That means this is probably the fully enabled RTX 4090 GPU with a 150W TGP, not the gimped 80W version. It’s roughly equivalent to a desktop RTX 3090 GPU.

HP Memorial Day Sale on Gaming PCs

HP carries several different models of gaming PCs depending on how much power you need. At the upper end of the scale, the HP OMEN 45L offers a massive tower chassis with space for up to a 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler as well as a total of additional 120mm case fans for ventilation. This is also the only model that can be configured with the latest RTX 40 series GPUs. On the other end of the scale, the HP Victus, Eny, and OMEN 25L gaming PCs feature understated aesthetics and a bargain price point. These PCs can still be configured into capable gaming rigs.

HP Memorial Day Deals on Gaming Laptops

HP has two gaming laptop lineups, the Victus and the OMEN. The OMEN is HP’s flagship gaming series with better build quality and far more customizability. There are 16″ and 17″ models available with enough cooling to support even the most powerful GPUs like the latest RTX 40 series video cards from NVIDIA. The HP Victus is only available in a 15″ form factor, and generally you can’t pick anything more powerful than an RTX 3060. However, if a 15″ RTX 3050 Ti or 3060 gaming laptop is exactly what you’re looking for, then you’d be hard pressed to find a better value.

omen of a good time
HP warranty repair in Almaty

Now, when it is almost impossible to buy a normal gaming video card on the market, you start to seriously think about buying a laptop as a stationary home computer. The advantages of this approach are obvious: the system takes up little space, and if necessary, a living room, a bedroom, and a kitchen can serve as a room for an exciting pastime. In addition, NVIDIA mobile graphics have long been on par in performance with their counterparts used in desktop PCs. For all these purposes, a laptop with a large diagonal and productive hardware is well suited. Such as HP Omen 17, which will be discussed later.

Appearance and input devices

Unlike competitors, and the laboratory tested a lot of gaming models, Omen 17 looks very strict. If not for the bold red logo of the HP gaming laptop series on the lid, then this model might not be suspected of having a truly gaming hardware – a kind of overgrown ultrabook for those who need a system with a large screen. The body of the device is entirely made of high-quality plastic. Outwardly, it resembles carbon, and to the touch – soft-touch. It’s nice that the dark gray material turned out to be practical in use: dust and fingerprints are not visible on the surface of the laptop. The inner surface of the laptop is made of glossy plastic.

The Omen 17 is only 33mm thick when closed. “Total” – because the sale is full of 17-inch laptops with a thickness of 40 or more millimeters. You can’t call a laptop heavy either. With its 3.35 kg (excluding power supply), Omen 17 is closer to 15.6-inch models rather than more weighty “colleagues in the shop.”

Notebook lid opens to approximately 130 degrees. The display is attached to the main body with two massive hinges. The rotary mechanism is positioned quite accurately and does not fluctuate during work and games.

The bottom of the laptop has a removable hatch for quick access to the RAM. Traditionally, for most models, the air is sucked in by the cooling system through this part of the case. In addition to the perforation for the cooler, there is a grill on the bottom that covers the sound speakers. Two long rubber feet prevent the Omen 17 from sliding on a flat surface – it has been tested on different surfaces.

There are no connectors on the front and back of the Omen 17. There is nothing at all in the front, and only the air ducts of the cooling system are located behind, through which the heated air leaves the body. All major ports are soldered to the sides of the laptop.

So, on the left, the user gets access to a USB 3.0 A-type connector and two 3.5 mm mini-jacks for connecting headphones and a microphone. On the right – two more exactly the same USB 3. 0 ports, an Ethernet connector, HDMI and mini-DisplayPort video outputs, an SD card reader and a connector for connecting an external power supply. It is noteworthy that even laptops with 17.3-inch screens no longer install optical drives.

I’ve already had the courage to compare the Omen 17 to ultrabooks. So the input devices of this model are similar to those HIDs that are used in ultra-compact laptops. We are used to the fact that usually in gaming models they use zonal multi-colored backlighting, highlight the combination of WASD and arrow keys with color, give some buttons an unusual shape, and also use touchpads with buttons. No, the Omen 17 has a strict keyboard with single-level red backlighting. The Synaptic buttonless touchpad is pleasant to the touch, the touchpad recognizes gestures normally, pressing it is accompanied by a distinct and rather loud click.

For its size, the Omen 17 has a fairly compact keyboard. The keys from the functional row F1-F12 are small. They contain laptop management functions, with their help, for example, you can change the screen brightness or sound volume, turn the keyboard backlight on and off. By the way, by default, these functions are activated without the Fn modifier, they are paramount. But if you need the F1-F12 keys, then you can’t do without a combination with the Fn-button. This scheme of work, in my opinion, is not very suitable for games. Fortunately, you can change the priority of the F1-F12 buttons in the laptop’s BIOS settings.

The Omen 17’s keyboard is generally comfortable to use and play. The only thing I didn’t like was the tiny up and down arrow keys.

The laptop uses a standard webcam that runs at 720p at 30Hz. That is why the quality of her video is standard, namely, in a room with artificial lighting, the picture turns out to be noisy and muddy. It will not be possible to conduct high-quality streams with such a “webcam”, but it is quite possible to communicate with relatives via Skype.

Internal structure and upgrade options

Disassembling the Omen 17 is not a trivial task even for a person who has held hundreds of laptops in his hands. First you need to remove from the grooves six rubber plugs that cover the screws. After we unscrew them all, it is necessary to carry out the most difficult procedure – to remove the laptop panel along with the keyboard. Since the device will continue to travel around other online publications, I decided not to disassemble the Omen 17 so as not to inadvertently spoil the presentation of the device.

I am sure that in this situation, many owners of this laptop will not disassemble it themselves either. On the bottom, however, there is a removable hatch that gives access to the RAM. Our Omen 17 assembly has two Samsung M471A5544CB0-CRC modules with a total capacity of 8 GB with an effective frequency of 2400 MHz and delays of 17-17-17-39. Access to HP IM2S3138E-128GM-B SSD (128GB SATA 6Gb/s) and HGST 2. 5″ HDD HTS721010A9E630 (1TB, 7200rpm, SATA 6Gb/s) not available. If you need to upgrade these components, it will be safer to contact the HP service center.
