Fire Emblem Involved: Everything You Need to Know
Updated:
Fire Emblem Engage is the next installment in a long-term strategy series from developers Intelligent Systems and Nintendo. First shown at the Semply Semorch Showcase Nintendo Direct after rumors began to circulate of a new Fire emblem game in the works, the debut trailer gave us our first official look at the adventure. Representing us with some characters and story elements, Fire Emblem Engage is already shaping up to be some of the most exciting upcoming Switch games, and we’re happy to not have to wait long to experience it for ourselves.
The Engage Fire Emblem certainly has a challenging act to follow after releasing the beloved and hugely successful Three House Fire Emblem back in 2019. While we haven’t had any trailers or demos yet, Nintendo Twitter reports have been steadily feeding us more details on what could very well be joining the best Switch exclusives in the future. So if you can barely wait to see what’s in store, join us as we walk you through everything we know about Fire Emblem: Engage.
Fire Emblem release date

Along with the reveal, Nintendo also set a release date for Emblem Emblem in stone. The publisher has revealed that the new tactical RPG will launch on January 20, 2023 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
Fire Emblem Engage Divine Edition
Fire Emblem will register pre-orders are already live and hard to find. With the new Switch strategy game set to release on January 20th, there isn’t much time to lock down a copy of the Fire Emblem Engage Divine Edition. This, by the way, is a limited edition version that includes a physical copy of the game, an art book, art cards, a poster, and an exclusive Steelbook.
Fire Emblem story

spheres that surround the central holy ground. A thousand years ago, a war between the citizens of Elios and the Fell Dragon caused the people to summon the emblems to help them. Emblems, who are heroes from other worlds, were called to fight alongside the nations, and at the same time successfully managed to imprison the Fell Dragon. But as we heard in the trailer, the Fell Dragon might just rise again, which is bound to be very bad news for Elos.

Like the game’s past, Fire Emblem Engage will feature a home base known as Somniel, which we got our first look at via Twitter posted on the official Nintendo account (seen above). The base is a place where we can interact with the cast of emblems and are also placed in some stores. While we don’t know the ins and outs of everything we’ll be able to do in Somniel, the short shot reel does make some animals appear to be home base residents.
With a few months to go until release, we’re still waiting to see if Engage will build any of the extra learning activities that helped make the Three Houses so beloved.
Fire Emblem concerned protagonist
In the fire emblem involved, we will be taking on the role of a character named Alear. Aside from the fact that Alear is also known for having a rather distinctive red and blue hairstyle, he is also known as a divine dragon who wakes up a thousand years after the war is over with no memory of his past – not unlike the main character in the fire emblem: Three houses (bar millennial part). Just like the games, it looks like we’ll be able to choose from the participation of the male and female protagonist in the fire emblem as we set out to help put an end to the resurrection of the Fell Dragon.
No wonder the internet has already fallen in love with Emblem Emblem’s new protagonist. In fact, some fans got the name of the protagonist “Toothpaste” after his instant light hairstyles.
Fire Emblem includes characters and challenge
Of course, the characters you meet along the way are always at the center of the experience when it comes to fire. Engage is going to introduce us to a cast of new characters that belong to each nation of Elios, some who will become our allies and our enemies as we venture through the story. As we saw in the trailer, we’ll also see a few familiar faces thanks to the power to summon heroes from past emblem games. We’ll see the likes of Mart (opens in a new tab) who appeared in the very first fire emblem game: Shadow Dragon and The Blade of Light, and Fire Emblem’s Celica: Gaiden (opens in a new tab) (which ended up being a remake in the form Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia on 3DS).
The official Japanese Fire Emblem Twitter account (Opens In New Tab) has also released a series of posts revealing some of the new Fire Emblem Engage characters. With such likes of Pegasus Night Chloe, Alfred the Prince of the Kingdom, known as Phyllin, who has a “noble class” and uses a spear on horses, Alfred’s sister Celine, Princess Philina, who is also a noble, spear heavy armor, knight Louis, along with the Dragon – Fran’s Guardian Monk, her tom-using mage brother, and Vandre’s old paladin draconian guardian.
Fire Emblem Engage Gameplay
Fire Emblem Engage will bring back the classic fighting combat based on the series. The series is well known. Just like the games, we will also fight alongside other characters on the battlefield, only this time we will be able to use the mechanic known as participating in our role as a divine dragon. In battle, we will be able to summon heroes like Mart and Celica by collecting and using emblem rings.
When you participate, your appearance will fuse with the hero and allow you to inherit weapons, skills “and more” from characters from past games. We will also be able to customize new characters that fight alongside us. The interoperability will no doubt offer some exciting ways to strategize our path to victory as we attempt to put an end to the Fell Dragon’s resurrection. Basically, it’s classic Fire Emblem gameplay with a new twist on how the characters go into battle.
The Fire Emblem is involved in combat
The Armed Triangle Mechanic, which has been a longtime staple of the series, is a return to the Fire Emblem. At its most basic level, the weapon triangle gives certain weapon types an advantage over another specific weapon-wielding unit. So the sword will have an advantage over the ax units and deal damage or will have a higher dodge rate, as well as the ax over the spear and the spear over the sword. The same rules should be back in Engage, only this time, art (which looks like some kind of skill set) will also take precedence over any units that wield bows, knives, and toms.
Previous entry emblem: three houses was the first game in the series to change the approach to fighting and omit the weapon triangle in its traditional form. While certain unit types still had an advantage over others, students could instead learn combat abilities (such as Axebreaker and Swordbreaker) to gain an advantage over certain weapon types by reaching a certain class level.
The return of the weapons mechanic also results in the addition of a break status. When fighting a specific weapon unit, you can inflict break status on that unit if you have weapon advantage. This means that they cannot counter any of your attacks until their next attack is.
