High speed interaction
Canon engineers have customized the EF lens mount specifically for the EOS R system with a unique 12-pin connector. This innovation dramatically improves the interaction between camera and lens, making the EOS R lens faster than ever.

The RF lens mount has a large diameter and is positioned as close as possible to the image sensor. This design allows lenses to be positioned closer to the sensor, resulting in high optical quality, aperture and performance.

Fast and precise focusing
The EOS R features a 30.3-megapixel full-frame image sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology that delivers precise autofocus with an advanced phase detection system that presents the user with 5,655 AF positions to choose from2. It utilizes the vast majority of the sensor’s pixels (80% horizontal and 100% vertical), resulting in ultra-fast autofocus when shooting stills, as well as smooth focus tracking when shooting video.
