Bose Soundbar 700 won’t connect to the Bose app?

Quick Answer: If your Bose Soundbar 700 won’t connect to the Bose app, first, make sure your soundbar is connected to the same WiFi network. If not, reset your soundbar by unplugging it and then plugging it back in. You can also try updating its software.

Released in 2018, the Bose Soundbar 700 is a one-stop solution for all your audio needs.

The soundbar offers a well-balanced sound profile and a range of smart features, such as support for voice assistants, Spotify music streaming, and multi-room capabilities.

However, the Bose Music app is required to access most of these features, and many users have reported connectivity issues with the app.

So if your new Bose Soundbar 700 won’t connect to the Bose app or has just stopped working, this post will offer a few easy fixes that should help you out.

Short on time? Jump ahead

Here’s a table summarizing the possible causes of the Bose Soundbar 700’s inability to connect to Wi-Fi, potential solutions, and the expected outcomes:

Issue / Cause Potential Solution Expected Outcome
Wi-Fi network down or unstable Check network status and restart router if necessary Restoring Wi-Fi connectivity
Incorrect Wi-Fi password Verify correct Wi-Fi password is entered Successful Wi-Fi connection
Firmware update required Update Bose Soundbar firmware through the Bose app Improved connectivity and app functionality
Conflict with other connected devices Disconnect other devices and reconnect the soundbar Clearing interference and enhancing signal
Outdated mobile device OS or app version Update mobile device OS and Bose app to the latest version Better compatibility and connectivity
Wireless interference from physical objects Move soundbar closer to the router or remove obstacles Improved signal strength and connectivity
Factory setting or configuration error Perform a factory reset on the Bose Soundbar 700 Restoring default settings and connectivity

Bose Soundbar 700 keeps disconnecting from Bose soundbar App

Disconnections from the Bose soundbar app can be frustrating, but there are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.

If your Bose Soundbar 700 is not connecting to the app, one or two of these steps will hopefully help you fix the issue.

Check the distance

You first need to check the distance between your Bose Soundbar 700 and the smartphone on which the Bose Music app is installed.

Per the company’s recommendations, the distance should not exceed 30 feet or 10 meters.

Ensure you enabled Bluetooth on your smartphone, as the Bose app uses BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) to detect the soundbar.

For iPhone users running iOS 13 and above, as soon as you install the Bose Music app and open it, a notification asks for permission to allow Bose Music app to use Bluetooth.

If you have denied it, then the app won’t be able to detect the soundbar.

Check the Bose Music app

Sometimes, the issue could be with the Bose Music app, not the soundbar. If the Soundbar 700 isn’t showing up in the app, you might have to restart the app.

Check if any updates are available for the Bose Music app. If yes, then make sure to install them, as updates usually bring bug fixes and improvements.

Apart from the Bluetooth connectivity, you would also have to allow the app permission to access your location.

In addition to this, you can also try removing and re-adding the Bose Soundbar 700  from the Bose Music app.

Once it is removed, restart the app and soundbar, and then try adding the soundbar from scratch.

Another option is to uninstall the Bose Music app on your iPhone.

If you don’t have an iPhone, clear the app’s cache if you’re on an Android device. If that doesn’t fix the issue, you might have to delete and reinstall the Bose Music app.

To do so, first, delete the app and then restart your smartphone.

Now go to the App Store/Google Play Store and download the Bose Music app. Then open the app and try setting up the soundbar again.

Check the router

If other devices on your network are taking up most of the router bandwidth, the Bose Music app might not be able to connect to the soundbar.

So, temporarily unplug such devices from the network and check if that fixes the issue.

Bose also recommends disabling these settings for your Wi-Fi network:

  • Access Point / AP mode
  • Wireless Isolation mode
  • Wireless AP mode

Also, try changing the network encryption type to WPA2.

Image: KnowTechie

If your router is broadcasting more than one network at a time, it can be the case that your smartphone and soundbar are not connected to the same Wi-Fi.

Try disabling all networks except the one you want to connect to and see if that solves the issue.

Also, if your router uses a Wi-Fi extender, try connecting your phone to the network without using the extender.

Make sure there is no interference between the Soundbar 700 and the router.

Also, you should reboot the router as well. To do it, simply unplug the router from the power outlet and wait for a minute or two.

From here, plug it back in, and once the router is back online, try connecting the Bose Soundbar 700 to the app again.

Check the Wi-Fi Connection

If you are still facing issues, the Bose Soundbar 700 might be unable to connect to your home Wi-Fi network.

If you are setting up your soundbar for the first time, it needs to appear in the app first so you can fill in your Wi-Fi credentials.

But in our case, the device is either not appearing or is refusing to connect via the app.

How to connect the Bose Soundbar 700 to WiFi without using the Bose app

There is an alternate way to connect the Soundbar 700 to your home network without using the app, but it is quite tedious.

You can use the soundbar’s built-in WiFi settings to connect the Bose Soundbar 700 to your home network without using the Bose Music app. Here’s how to do it.

Reset your Bose Soundbar 700

How to connect a Bose soundbar to Wi-Fi without the Bose soundbar app

On the soundbar 700 remote, press the ‘TV‘ and ‘Skip Back‘ buttons for 3-5 seconds until you see an amber light on the soundbar.

Now open the Wi-Fi settings on your phone and look for a network called ‘Bose Smart Soundbar 700‘.

Once connected to that network, open a browser on your phone and go to ‘192.0.2.1‘. You should now see a Wi-Fi setup page.

Enter your network details here and the soundbar will disconnect from your phone and jump to the home network connection.

Now, you have to turn off the Wi-Fi on your phone and switch it on again to connect with the same home network.

Now open the Bose Music app, and the soundbar should appear.

Image: KnowTechie

If the above steps don’t help, the next and final step is to reset your Bose Soundbar 700. You can either power cycle, soft reset the device, or erase all data by factory resetting it to its default settings.

To soft reset, simply unplug the device from the power socket and wait for a minute. Now plug it back in and turn it ON.

If that doesn’t work, you can try factory resetting the device, which will erase all data and settings. To do that, press and hold the ‘Power‘ and ‘Skip Forwards‘ buttons for 4-5 seconds.

Solving why your Bose Soundbar 700 is not connecting to the app

With all the different settings and options on your Bose Soundbar 700, it can sometimes be difficult to figure out why it won’t connect to the app.

Whether it is an issue with your network or a problem with your device settings, these tips should help you fix it.

In closing, these are some solutions to fix a Bose Soundbar 700 that’s not connecting with the Bose Music App. In most cases, one of the above methods should work.

Bose soundbar still not connecting to the app?

Here’s one final tip: Ensure your soundbar is connected to the same WiFi network as your phone or other devices. You can check this by going to the settings on your phone and looking for the network name listed under WiFi.

If your soundbar is not connected to the same network, try connecting it to the same network and see if that fixes the issue.

If you’ve tried all of these steps and you’re still having trouble, it may be worth contacting Bose support for further assistance.

They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or help you determine if there is a problem with your soundbar.

How to Get Water Out of iPhone Charging Port

The Bose Soundbar 700 is a premium-looking 3.0 soundbar with a distinctive design. Because of its more neutral sound profile, it outperforms the comparable Bose Soundbar 500. This soundbar features side-firing speakers that can bounce sound off your walls, creating a large soundstage.

It can become loud enough for most uses, unlike the Bose Soundbar 500, and there isn’t much compression at the maximum level. Although it lacks some low-bass, you can increase its bass performance by adding a subwoofer and satellite speakers, such as the Bose Soundbar 700 with Speakers + Bass Module.

The Bose Soundbar 700 is the perfect solution for those who want to fill their room with sound without having large and bulky audio equipment like other brands. It can also be used as an Alexa device or streaming speaker, but primarily this product will help you improve your TV viewing experience by increasing dialogue clarity.

Design

What’s in the box

The Bose Soundbar 700 is elegant and well-packaged in the box. It comes with remote control, four AAA batteries, a cleaning cloth for your convenience, and a universal remote controller that can also function as an ordinary TV Remote Control. The included optical cable connects you to all your digital media devices. In contrast, HDMI cable sends video signals from different sources such as games consoles or smart TVs straight into this unit’s HDMI socket without any loss of quality at 1080p resolution (HDMI 1&2).

Unboxing

I was impressed by the polished build quality of the Bose soundbar 700 after unboxing it. A dark-gray perforated metal grill sits over the glass with minimal touch controls. The SB700 is much smaller than conventional soundbars, measuring 2.25″ H X 38.5″ W X 4.25″ D. It’s about the size of a 43-inch TV, which is ridiculously little for a high-end soundbar.

The Soundbar 700 offers a quality appearance and feel. It’s also sturdy and weighty, implying that the insides are well-made. Its tempered glass top edge is stylish, and the front left corner includes a couple of touch-response buttons. Rounded corners and a wrap-around grille soften the impression it has on your living space.

The Soundbar 700’s remote is another high-end feature. Are you tired of figuring out which remote controls which devices? That’s something Bose understands. As a result, Bose created a remote that you’ll want to use. The Bose Soundbar Universal Remote is included with your soundbar purchase and allows you to control all of your entertainment with a single button press. It has six presets and only illuminates the buttons you need at the time, making it even easier to locate your favorites.

Connections

The Bose Soundbar 700 has a recessed breakout for I/O, but, notably, they dropped the second HDMI port (video passthrough) from their earlier model in favor of only one eARC connection. Unfortunately, at this time, I can’t confirm what formats will be supported with future updates by way of an improved onboard AptX decoder and optical audio outputs on connecting cables.

However, Dolby Digital5 and DTS are confirmed as available via TOSlink connections included standard within these speakers themselves.

You have a lot of choices when Bose Soundbar 700 comes to what you want to hear. You can wirelessly stream whatever you want, whenever you want, thanks to Wi-Fi®, Bluetooth®, and Apple AirPlay 2 compatibility. Play anything from your phone or tablet, or browse your favorite music services like Spotify®, Amazon Music, or Apple Music. You can listen to it through the Bose Smart Soundbar 700 to download it on your device. Music services are subject to change.

With the Bose Music app, you can quickly browse through all of your music in one location and smoothly switch between stations, playlists, and services. It’s also another straightforward way to use the Bose Smart Soundbar 700. It’s simple to set up presets on the app so that you can listen to your favorite music with just a few taps. Furthermore, numerous users can customize their content and experience. Moreover, the app simplifies the setup process by guiding you through each step.

The Bose Soundbar 700 SetUp

The ARC (Audio Return Channel) is a new technology that will control all your HDMI devices with ease. A quick web search tells you everything about it and its benefits, so I highly recommend using this system to “tune” the room before sitting down for an event or two nights in. Every home has different sizes making this step necessary when setting up rooms accordingly.

It was simple to connect the soundbar and then repeat the process when adding a subwoofer. To pair a subwoofer:

  1. Go to the bottom right corner of the dashboard and click the 700 soundbar’s circular symbol.
  2. Select “Accessory Speakers” from the “Settings” menu.
  3. Click “+ Add Bose Accessory Speaker” to begin the search.

There is no pairing button on the 700 subwoofers. However, it will show up automatically if it is plugged in. (Note: The 500 requires you to press a button near the power wire on the bottom.)

There are many reasons why I was able to get rid of so many speakers. One, because with this two-piece system, you can hear great sounds from anywhere in the room. It sounds like an entire surround system! Another reason is that my listening space may not have been huge before, at least for me personally. Once everything was optimized and appropriately tuned, each seat had its newfound magic soundtrack without losing quality on any channel or speaker configuration imaginable.

Other Features

The use of phase guide technology creates the illusion that sound is coming from all directions. It includes a headset device for AdaptIQ calibration, which allows you to customize the soundbar to sound like your “favorite spots.” It asks you to choose four or five areas in the room where you would sit to listen to the sound. It includes instructions on the screen, so you must connect the HDMI cable to the TV for it to work.

This gadget can be used with a Bose 700 Bass Module and some Bose surrounds speakers. The software makes pairing simple, and I’ve never had any issues with disruptions between the devices.

The personal assistants Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are built-in, so you can speak your orders without lifting a finger. In addition, a handy light indicates whether the personal assistant is listening, thinking, or speaking, so you’re never in the dark about what’s going on.

Sound Quality

The Bose Soundbar 700 excels at a few tasks. First, while going much, much louder than you’d anticipate from such a small design, it manages to avoid almost all distracting distortions.

Bass does not phut or stop playing. Trebles only sound harsh or strident under the most extreme circumstances. And, no matter how hard it’s worked, the well-built bodywork never buzzes or rattles.

Next, the Soundbar 700 produces a sound that extends well beyond its small size. There’s enough left and right dispersion to cover an entire living room wall, evoking a feeling of cinematic scale well beyond what any TV’s built-in speakers can achieve.

Despite its tiny shape and lack of up-firing speakers, the Soundbar 700’s audio has a subtle sensation of verticality. This little verticality is very effective for making dialogue appear from the screen rather than the speaker.

Because of the sound system’s four forward-facing drivers and ‘PhaseGuide’ multidirectional beam elements, vocalists sound crisp and locked in place at the heart of the soundbar’s sound, despite the wide dispersion. There’s also no ‘leakage’ of undesired voice channels into the larger soundstage.

However, the soundstage isn’t always entirely seamless. Effects placement in cinema soundtracks can be a little hazy. As a result, the feeling of space can become muddy and one-dimensional at times, especially at the soundstage’s extreme left and right margins.

The acoustic architecture of the Soundbar 700 might also cause issues with music. The lead vocals are clear, energetic, and clean. There’s also a good sense of stereo separation, and oddly, the sound with music seemed even more free of the restrictions of the 700’s bodywork than massive movie mixes did. However, some components of the complex musical mixes lacked definition, clarity, and balance, in my opinion.

With large movie soundtracks, the Soundbar 700 also lacks a bit of bite and attack. For example, big explosions may lack impact compared to comparable high-end soundbars partly because the bass lacks to deliver unexpected forceful results (even with the optional sub), and somewhat because the drivers can’t find enough more gears to allow such powerful moments to grow and swell.

Movies Performances

When you watch movies, you’ll notice that the Bose Soundbar 700 is designed to provide a surround sound experience. The channel shift and surround effects are incredible considering this is a soundbar, from the bike chase sequence in “Fast and Furious: 9” to guns firing all over the place to the movies like “The Maze Runner” where you have the sound of the creatures all around you after a quiet moment.

It does feel as if the sound needs to originate from your left or right. Of course, you know it’s recreated by sound bouncing off walls, but the fact that it’s coming from a single bar under your TV rather than surround speakers is astounding.

Music Performances

The Music performance of the Bose soundbar is what you’d expect from a high-end speaker. It has a clean output that can distinguish vocals and instruments. Still, it depends on the type of music for effectiveness since some genres require different qualities to make out all sounds, like electronic dance music with solid bases.

In contrast, classic rock doesn’t need any overpowering bass or low frequencies because everything else comes through loud enough without being overstated by default which sometimes happens when people listen back to earlier generations’ tracks.

If you like hard metal, though, the lack of a sub for the lows will be noticeable. If it’s classical music, the speaker should be able to reproduce the vocals. The speaker doesn’t distort at high volumes, and even though we listened to music at maximum volume for a while, you won’t need to go much higher than 70% in a typical living room.

With the Bose Soundbar 700, audiophiles will be able to enjoy both movies and music. The sleek soundbar has plenty of features that make it stand out as one good allrounder when combined with other home electronics like TVs or speakers for an immersive experience in your living room.

Gaming Performances

The sound of the wind and traffic as you swing from building to building, or even just someone running past with their footstep echoing off into your eardrums, highlights how immersive these games are through surround effects. In addition, the channel separation makes it so that more than one person can be playing at once without any confusion on which direction they’re coming from because there’s an added sense of depth created by all three channels working together seamlessly alongside each other.

Conclusion

The Bose Smart Soundbar 700 is suitable for a variety of applications. Its sound profile is well-balanced and neutral, making it ideal for a wide range of music genres and voice-oriented content such as audiobooks and podcasts. Because of the side-firing speakers, this bar can go loud enough for most entertainment and has a unique and broad soundscape.

It does, however, lack some low-bass, which can be rectified by purchasing a second subwoofer. Due to its 3.0 design, it also doesn’t deliver a very immersive hearing experience with movies.

You don’t simply want to listen to your favorite movies, music, or television shows. You want to hear the pounding footfall on the screen, hear the audience yell when the underdog’s triumph, and hear your favorite song’s heart-pumping, beat-stomping chorus.

That’s why, with the Bose Smart Soundbar 700, Bose set out to create the greatest soundbar in the world. This small soundbar is packed with technology that brings out the entire force in every moment of your entertainment, thanks to an unequaled blend of exquisite design and great sound.

You can control your music, obtain information, and manage your day without lifting a finger with Google Assistant and Alexa embedded directly into the Bose Smart Soundbar 700. To begin listening, select your voice assistant. You may also make or take calls to Bose smart devices, Amazon Echo devices, and anyone in your contact directory using Alexa alone. Hands-free, phone-free, and cost-free.

But if the Bose Soundbar 700 can’t hear you, what good is voice control? A custom-designed eight-microphone array provides excellent voice pickup, even when the music is turned up loud. Additionally, a clever light bar will visually show if your voice assistant is listening, thinking, or speaking. Furthermore, it is continually improving. The new functionality will be included in future software upgrades.

FAQ

Than soundbar Bose Soundbar 700 different from Bose Solo 5?

The Solo 5 is designed primarily to provide the best TV sound with an emphasis on dialogue. This greatly improves the sound of your TV and improves the intelligibility of dialogue. The Solo 5 system does not have a built-in virtual assistant feature. The Bose Soundbar 700 does this and more, including built-in Amazon Alexa voice control. The Bose Soundbar 700 delivers a wide soundstage (much wider than the bar itself) and brings your music and movies to life by immersing you in the sound. You will hear sounds coming from places where there are no physical speakers. The Bose Soundbar 700 also includes ADAPTiQ sound calibration technology, which adjusts the soundbar’s sound to best suit your room, no matter its shape or setting. That’s why the Soundbar 700 will always sound great.

Can the Bose Soundbar 700 be wall mounted?

Yes. An optional new Bose Soundbar Wall Bracket allows you to place the soundbar on a wall.

How do I run ADAPTiQ audio calibration using the Bose Soundbar 700?

ADAPTiQ is part of the overall setup process and is controlled through the Bose Music app. You will be prompted to launch ADAPTiQ after downloading the Bose Music app and begin the installation process. If you skip the ADAPTiQ step during the initial setup process, or change your room significantly after the initial launch of ADAPTiQ, you can return to the app and do it again. Launch ADAPTiQ and follow the instructions in the app.

How do I connect a Bluetooth device to the Bose Soundbar 700?

Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the remote control for a few seconds (the LED will flash on the Bose Soundbar 700 remote control). Make sure your mobile device is in pairing mode and select the Bose Soundbar 700 from the list. You can also connect your mobile device to the soundbar using the Bose Music app.

Does the Bose Soundbar 700 have HDMI-eARC capability?

Yes.

What remote comes with the Bose Soundbar 700?

The Bose Soundbar 700 features a new universal backlit remote control. There is no need to point the remote directly at the device when operating, since IR technology is not used. Instead, the remote uses Bluetooth Low Energy to communicate with the soundbar, and then the soundbar sends IR commands to control other devices.

How does the Bose Soundbar 700 connect to the TV?

The easiest way to connect the Bose Soundbar 700 to your TV is with the included HDMI cable. If your TV is equipped with HDMI-ARC or HDMI-eARC, you must use this connection. If your TV does not have HDMI, you will need to connect the Bose Soundbar 700 to your TV using an optical cable (supplied with the Bose Soundbar 700).

How do I control other devices with the Bose Soundbar 700 remote control?

There are two ways to control other devices: HDMI-CEC and IR. The soundbar can control connected devices (TV, Blu-ray player, game console) via HDMI-CEC. This allows you to turn on and control other devices with the soundbar remote without any programming. It also provides one-click access to entertainment, allowing you to turn on multiple devices and select input with the touch of a button. However, not all devices respond to these commands. In particular, cable and satellite boxes may not respond to HDMI commands. You can still control devices that do not respond to HDMI commands by programming the Bose Soundbar Universal Remote (included with the Bose Soundbar 700).

What placement guidelines should be considered for optimal audio performance from the Bose Soundbar 700?

The Bose Soundbar 700 uses reflective room surfaces to create cinematic sound. For optimal sound, the soundbar should be placed at the same distance from each side wall and directly in the center in front of the TV. No objects should be placed directly in front of the soundbar, and the soundbar should not be installed inside a cabinet, as this will limit the sound stage. Also, nothing should be placed directly on the sides of the Bose Soundbar 700.

Can I connect source devices such as a cable box, iPod, game system, etc. to the Bose Soundbar 700?

No. All sources must be connected to the TV and then one connection (via HDMI or optical cable) must be made from the TV to the soundbar.

Can I use my streaming music presets from the Bose Music app with the Bose Soundbar 700?

Yes. The Bose Soundbar 700 uses presets via the Bose Music app and remote control.

Can soundbars and bass modules be combined?

Yes. Bose Soundbar 500, Bose Soundbar 700, Bose Bass Module 500 and Bose Bass Module 700 use the same wireless protocols and can be connected and coordinated with each other. For example, the Bose Soundbar 700 can be connected wirelessly to the Bose Bass Module 500, and the Bose Soundbar 500 can be connected wirelessly to the Bose Bass Module 700. in the same class (for example, Bose Soundbar 500 products together and Bose Soundbar 700 products together). Thus, the glass on the Bose Soundbar 700 products looks more harmonious than if you mix one Bose Soundbar 500 product with a Bose Soundbar 700 product.

Bose Soundbar 700 – Soundbar

Description of the Bose Soundbar 700

The Bose Soundbar 700 has an elegant, low height design that will look great next to premium TVs. The column has rounded side corners, and its front and side panels are covered with a solid protective mesh. The Bose Soundbar 700 model uses an original indication of operating modes in the form of a luminous strip in the upper left corner, which emphasizes the fashionable image of this speaker. The model is of very high quality workmanship, which is typical for all Bose appliances.

There are four custom-made oval-shaped speakers in the center of the front panel of the soundbar behind a protective mesh. While maintaining a low cabinet height, these speakers provide the Bose Soundbar 700 with the powerful, rich sound you need to accurately reproduce movie tracks. And along the edges of the panel are the patented PhaseGuide sound guides, which work together with small radiators. This design allows you to direct the acoustic waves in such a way as to create a surround sound effect in the room. The soundbar features Dolby Digital and DTS decoders for faithful reproduction of multi-channel audio.

The Bose Soundbar 700 features an HDMI output with ARC support, as well as optical and analog inputs. The column also has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi / Ethernet – using a network connection, you can access various streaming services. To control the Bose Soundbar 700, you can use the included remote control or a special branded mobile application available for devices based on iOS and Android. The soundbar sound can be adjusted automatically using an external microphone and the ADAPTiQ function.

Another interesting additional feature of the Bose Soundbar 700 is the support for voice control based on Alexa, realized through the presence of built-in microphones.
