SteelSeries Arctis 7X and 7P
Best Wireless Gaming Headset
The Arctis 7X and Arctis 7P are the best gaming headsets out there, thanks to their comfortable design, impressive durability and excellent sound quality. The new models replace the earlier Arctis 7 (2019). They offer 24 hours of battery life (up from 20), compatibility with next-gen consoles, and matching looks – white and blue or black and blue 7Ps for PlayStation fans, and black and green 7Xs for Xbox users.
The fabric headband, which debuted on the original Arctis 7, remains key to the comfortable and well-balanced fit of the new models. Controls on each earcup on the 7X’s headphones let you balance the overall volume and mix between chat and game sounds, although the 7P doesn’t allow for that mix and instead uses its dial to adjust the side tone. Bass, treble and mids are well represented, and while the sound isn’t the cleanest or widest we’ve heard, it’s still great for a gaming headset.
The microphone performance is also excellent, even in noisy environments.
Arctis 7 headsets connect via a low latency 2.4GHz wireless network to a USB-C adapter, which can then be connected to next generation consoles as well as PCs, Nintendo Switch and Android smartphones. This only includes devices with full-size USB-A ports, as a USB-C to USB-A adapter is included. You can also use the 3.5mm straight cable, i.e. when listening to music on the go or while charging the headset. Unfortunately, SteelSeries hasn’t chosen to include USB-C charging here, meaning you’ll need to carry an archaic Micro USB cable with you for this purpose.
If you will only be using with Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5, please purchase 7X and 7P respectively. If you plan on using both then the Arctis 7X makes more sense as it supports both consoles for the same price and the only downside is the slightly larger dongle.
Razer Blackshark V2 / V2X

First, these headphones are perfect for gaming or listening to music, with a wide soundstage, accurate sound and good reproduction.
All of this is powered by newly developed 50mm drivers, which Razer says will be used for future headsets as well. This is a stereo headset that can be recommended for competitive play, but will also work well for games that require maximum immersion. With THX Spatial Audio or THX Game Profiles, 7.1 surround sound and custom profiles provide positional accuracy and realistic acoustics. The detachable BlackShark V2 microphone is mounted on an adjustable boom that takes any shape, also quite acceptable. With USB sound card support, you can customize and enhance your voice output with Razer Synapse, accessing features such as Mic Boost, Voice Gate, volume normalization, mic equalizer and noise reduction.
The design of the BlackShark V2 is also commendable. First, the ears are well-closed to block out distracting background sounds. Enhanced flow-weave memory foam ear cushions with breathable fabric and soft PU leather cover, light weight of only 262 grams, keep the headphones comfortable for hours.
There is a convenient volume control knob on the left ear cup. The BlackShark V2 lacks RGB lighting, only green cables and a subtle Razer logo on each earcup, highlighting the design’s gaming focus.
In terms of connectivity, there are three options available: double 3.5mm (for PC), single 3.5mm (for PC, mobile, Switch, PS5 and Xbox) and USB-A (for PS5 and PC). This means you can use these headphones on the go just as easily as you can use them on your PC or console at home. USB connectivity via the included sound card, which adds simulated 7.1 capabilities, microphone settings (such as noise cancellation), and compatibility with Razer Synapse software.
If you could do without all this, consider 9 instead0039 BlackShark V2 X which ditched the sound card to achieve a more competitive price. There’s also the BlackShark V2 Pro , which adds wireless with the same superior sound and comfort, making it a good alternative to the SteelSeries Arctis 7X and 7P in the “best wireless headset” slot.
Logitech G Pro X remain a strong alternative. They may not be as comfortable and accurate as the Blackshark V2, but the headphones offer a generally similar set of features, have a decent microphone and leatherette and velor ear cushions.

A great headset that combines built-in Xbox Wireless compatibility without additional adapters and adapters and a parallel Bluetooth connection for working with mobile devices. The SteelSeries Arctis 9X boasts neutral sound reproduction, a comfortable headband and a battery life of approximately 20 hours. The quality of the microphone is also good, thanks to the retractable design, which is easy to install. Comfortable volume, game/chat balance and easy connection setup ensure that this headset is not tiring to use.
The headset comes with 40mm drivers that are smaller than many similarly priced competitors, and their optimization and tuning is excellent, so you get an all-round experience with the clarity and detail you might expect from headsets that cost much more.
The signature Steelseries headband design means great comfort, and even after a while you hardly notice the 372 grams on your head.
