Soviet 60-inch flat screen TV model 1957
In 1957, one of the Moscow radio factories began mass production of TV sets “Moskva”, which had a screen size of 0.9X1.2 m. Many research institutes, laboratories and factories took part in the development of this TV set.
This TV set is remarkable in that Soviet engineers far 1957 managed to make a surprisingly bright absolutely flat and thin screen. True, it had to be bent a little to achieve a better optical effect, but the screen remained flat. The brightness of the image on it was 1.
5-2 msb (milistilb – the then accepted units for measuring brightness), i.e. approximately corresponds to the brightness of images on cinema screens.
TV screen “Moskva” is made of sheet aluminum, the surface of which is etched in an alkaline solution. Such a screen has the property of scattering light mainly in one direction (by the principle of mirror reflection).
